Job Summary

The Value Analysis Coordinator will assist the Materials Management Department by providing spreadsheet analysis related to items, contracts and opportunities identified at Lexington Medical Center for review by the department(s) and or committee(s). The Value Analysis Coordinator must be able to retrieve data from the MMIS system PeopleSoft, access contract information from GPO websites and local agreements from vendors to provide data analysis for Lexington Medical Center to assist in decisions to help reduce drug and supply expenses, aid in product standardization and provide the highest quality products for patient care. The Value Analysis Coordinator will lead and or participate in meetings and committees as needed providing information to all levels of the Materials Management Department as directed by the Purchasing Manager and Director of Materials Management. The Value Analysis Coordinator will need to demonstrate and provide documentation of cost saving through initiatives they have worked on to complete annually.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 4 Years of previous experience in an acute care hospital Materials Management Department;
2 Years in providing Value Analysis functions, contract analysis, and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of an integrated supply chain operation and the discussions need to promote product changes.
Substitutable Education & Experience: 4 Years of previous experience in an acute care hospital Materials Management Department can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree in Business or Nursing
Required Certifications/Licensure: None.
Required Training: Knowledge of healthcare and the supplies related to its operation;
Strong computer skills and in-depth knowledge including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Essential Functions

  • Access data from MMIS systems, GPO websites, and vendor contracts to provide accurate information for analysis.
  • Evaluate purchase history and cost variances to understand changes in usage history or technology to explain variances in departmental supply expenses.
  • Utilizes data to develop analysis to provide guidance on contract negotiations and or utilize group-purchasing agreements.
  • Interface with Physician Advisory Committee and key medical staff members providing expense and revenue information for high volume and/or high expense procedures.
  • Communicates within the health district and vendor community in a timely and professional manner exhibiting the values of the health district in all they do.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participates in interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams developing contracts for physician preference items.
  • Meets with sales representatives to acquire information and or product knowledge to aid in analysis for Materials Management.
  • Analysis of PeopleSoft and other information systems to track data and expense used for savings opportunities.
  • Responsible for establishing and managing the multi-disciplinary Value Analysis Team (VAT). S/he will be responsible for cost reductions and will track and record such savings.
  • Utilizes technical expertise to strengthen the knowledge and skills of related team members.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
