Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of IS Technology Services, participates in the analysis, design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation, and auditing of multiple unified communications platforms. Performs daily administration of LMC’s IP Telephony applications such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager Cisco Unity Connection and Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, as well as advanced software components such as Cisco Unified Workforce Optimization and IPsession. Analyzes all telecommunications and Metro Ethernet services, maintains documentation on all accounts, identifies billing issues and works with service providers for all account activities. Develops and maintains call flows.  Works with Network Engineers to evaluate and implement new technologies. Provides configuration and troubleshooting assistance to Telecommunication Technicians. Trains end users as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 6 Years of professional work experience in a related field;
2 Years of telecommunications support experience.
Substitutable Education & Experience: 6 Years of professional work experience can be substituted for an Associate's Degree in Computer Science (or a related discipline) with at least 4 years professional work experience.
Required Certifications/Licensure: None.
Required Training: Familiarity with telecommunications terms, service types, and billing platforms;
Able to learn and adapt quickly to new software applications and technologies;
Sound software/hardware troubleshooting skills;
Proficiency in software applications and operating systems;
Understanding of IP networks and ability to perform basic IP troubleshooting;
Experience in Cisco Communications Manager (Call Manager) Administration and Unity Connection Administration.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, produces and assesses telecommunications software solutions.
  • Works with IP Telephony software including Cisco Unified Communications Manager software, Cisco Unity Connection and Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, as well as advanced software components such as Cisco Jabber, Cisco Unified Workforce Optimization and IPsession.
  • Analyzes phone bills, works with carriers on billing issues, documents bill totals.
  • Analyzes and identifies areas of cost savings within the LMC telecommunications and network infrastructure and work with service providers to implement solutions to reduce those costs.
  • Generates reports using Cisco CDRs and MindCTI call accounting systems.
  • Verify backups of voice systems (CallManager, Unity, UCCx, WFO-QM, MindCTI and ipSession).
  • Works with service providers to add/change services as needed.
  • Works with IS Telecom Technicians and Support Services to ensure trouble tickets are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Maintains phone inventory and RMA defective units to manufacturer when appropriate.
  • Audits phone bills against actual services used and disconnect unneeded services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works with business units to setup/modify telephony features to meet their needs.
  • Analyzes and designs systems to meet the needs of each department.
  • Maintains documentation on all telephony service contracts and maintenance including but not limited to PRIs, T1s, DIDs, POTS, key systems, and other telephony services.
  • Assists Director with capital and operating budget planning and tracks operation and capital spending for telecommunications.
  • Performs user training as needed.
  • Documents voice configurations for business units as needed.
  • Assists with conversion of key systems at remote sites over to Cisco telephony solutions.
  • Ensures equipment is deployed according to LMC standards.
  • Upgrades software of telephony system(s) and equipment when appropriate.
  • May be required to work extra hours, afterhours, or on weekends.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
