Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Manager of Systems Administration, provides Tier 3 support of server and related infrastructure. Responds to calls escalated by IS support teams. Serves as a technical lead in IS projects. Provides support for day to day issues/requests escalated to the Microsoft/Server team. Installs and configures new hardware and software. Troubleshoots and replaces broken hardware as appropriate. Represents IS in meetings regarding technical projects, issues, and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 7 Years of experience supporting IT systems
Substitutable Education & Experience: 7 Years of experience can be substituted for an Associate's Degree or higher with a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting IT systems
Required Certifications/Licensure: None.
Required Training: Proven experience supporting Windows based servers and related systems in an enterprise environment.
Experience supporting a Microsoft Active Directory domain;
Understanding of application and server virtualization using VMware and Citrix technologies;
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures related to server administration;
Outstanding hardware / software troubleshooting skills.

Essential Functions

  • Support the mission of Lexington Medical Center
  • Serves as technical lead on enterprise technology
  • Identifies solutions that would benefit LMC and assists with building a business case for them
  • Provides Tier 3 troubleshooting for the organization
  • Assists with design and architecture of new technologies/solutions
  • Communicates directly with IS management and business unit leaders on IS related projects, issues, and initiatives
  • Attends business and technical meetings as appropriate
  • Installs, configures, and maintains organization's server and related infrastructures
  • Communicate system changes with appropriate stakeholders as defined by IS Change Management Policy and Procedures documents
  • Supports users

  • Must provide detailed documentation on systems, projects, issues, etc.
  • Participates in professional development activities and periodically attends continuing education courses
  • Mentors staff
  • Teaches classes and provides in-services and knowledge transfers as needed
  • Creates and maintains documentation to support server infrastructure and related systems
  • Participates in routine downtime activities and other after hours and weekend work as needed
