Job Summary

Function as the primary administrative contact between other departments and the Biomedical Services Department.  Develop, direct, organize and manage the overall operations and distribution of resources (staffing, budgets and outside vendor services) of the Biomedical Services program.  Review, audit and participate in decision support activities related to problem diagnosis, repair, planned maintenance and quality assurance of patient care and other medical equipment.  Participate in the development of annual goals and objectives related to supporting the growth and development of services in response to the medical equipment support needs of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
Minimum Years of Experience: 5 Years of experience in the biomedical/imaging service industry with at least 3 Years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Substitutable Education & Experience: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Required Certifications/Licensure: None.
Required Training:
Documented attendance of at least two manufacturer technical service training classes or management seminars;
Knowledge of many different types of patient care equipment.
Knowledge of applicable standards, codes and regulations as they relate to biomedical services operations;
Knowledge of electronic theory and technology;
Substantial advanced ability to use basic computer software packages such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases and computerized maintenance management systems;
Ability to write reports and policies and to make presentations on operational and technical issues.

Essential Functions

  • Inform hospital (and other entity) management staff of operation and financial aspects of the biomedical services performed at their sites.
  • Determine proper staffing levels to provide equipment support services at assigned accounts; distribute personnel based on planned and corrective maintenance workloads.
  • Review productivity and efficiency work data for all staff and identity areas of opportunity to maximize staffing resources.
  • Make hiring and termination decisions in collaboration with assigned business partner.
  • Meet regularly with department supervisors/team leaders/managers/directors to review previous work completion data, future scheduled work assignments, quality assurance issues, new equipment inspections and any other relevant project or equipment support needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with department clinical supervisors/team leaders/managers/directors, etc. and BMET’s on projects related to new equipment acquisition, installation, renovation, modification or removal.  May directly oversee the progress and status of such projects.
  • Determine training needs for staff BMET’s and recommend/implement arrangements as needed to obtain necessary training, test equipment and tools needed to expand the areas of technical services provided by the department.
  • Ensure that work requests from equipment users are responded to within established timeframes
  • Ensure the Biomedical Department complies with all regulatory and accreditation codes and standards as they relate to medical equipment.
  • Participates on varioys
