Job Summary

Department with the goal of reducing risk exposures and effectively managing liability. A core function is overseeing the evaluation of claims and efficient claim resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Years of Experience: 5 Years of Experience in Professional Liability or General Liability Insurance Claims Management

Substitutable Education & Experience: None.

Required Certifications/Licensure: None

Required Training: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

Essential Functions

1. Provide leadership to claims staff handling professional liability and general liability litigated and non-litigated claims. 
2. Claims management, including, but not limited to, claim evaluation, investigation, and reserve setting.
3. Ensure that any claim investigation, coverage matter, or settlement is appropriately managed. 
4. Track exposure changes and discuss insurance coverage changes with Department leaders. 
5. Communicating with claimants, attorneys, and other parties in regards to actual and/or potential claims facing the organization.
6. Oversee the maintenance of insurance files and related databases in real time, including electronic claim management system.
7. Consult and communicate with professionals and experts (i.e. Physicians, engineers, and outside legal counsel).
8. Negotiate settlements under specific direction of Department leader.

Duties & Responsibilities

9. Extensive knowledge in analyzing and interpreting insurance policies.
10.Manage case summary reports from outside counsel and maintain these at requested intervals.
11.Conducting assessments and evaluations to determine the associated risks involved in a situation.
12.Manages and controls the cost of processing claims.
13.Gathering necessary information for insurance applications and ensuring accurate completion.
14.Providing data analysis and preparing and processing reports to Department leaders.
15.Undertaking research on current market/organizational risk initiatives.
16.Other duties as assigned at the direction of Department leaders.
