Job Summary

Under the direction of the CFO, and in collaboration with other senior leadership team members, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining the enterprise financial decision support applications across the Lexington Medical Center health system. The position ensures accurate, timely, and useful information on Enterprise financial performance and program profitability across strategic programs and care settings.  Works with senior leadership, as well as internal and external financial and information systems professionals to implement innovative cost accounting enhancements and develop and deploy financial performance reporting. This position will develop a formal plan for enhancing the financial decision support work including: Development of the long-term plan for improving quality, access and reporting of patient level financial information; identifying optimal systems and tools to provide this information; assuring consistency in practice of costing/allocation across the LMC entities; engage in proactive assessment of opportunities to improve patient level financial reporting and assessment, and coordinate with the appropriate personnel to ensure financial integrity and consistency as well as evolution to new reporting tools.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Services, or Data Analytics
Minimum Years of Experience: 8 Years of Healthcare Financial Experience, Especially Program Financial Performance.
Substitutable Education & Experience (Optional): None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: None.
Required Training: Proficiency working with complex management information systems, financial and analytical systems, spreadsheet applications, and presentation software.  Strong analytical skills and experience, ability to undertake and explain statistical analysis, train and manage analysts to work with decision support applications and other integrated health care information management databases.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises the selection, design and implementation of new decision support system(s) and the implementation of those systems for new entities within the enterprise.
  • Supervises the ongoing maintenance and improvement of decision support system(s), including data quality, integrity and enhancement, as well as new cost accounting methodologies and technique, working collaboratively with Finance and Operations staff.
  • Provides leadership with cost data, cost analysis, data management and support system and processes to measure and improve the cost efficiencies of services.
  • Supports strategic initiatives such as service lines, managed care contract analysis, and business development in coordination with clinical and operational leadership and staff.
  • Develops databases and computerized decision support tools for purposes of modeling revenues and analyzing patient volumes, costs, financials, and clinical services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable about new information technologies, information systems, and data management and decision support tools to assure the highest productivity, analysis and management tools.  Prepares and conducts internal and external presentations that generally reach senior manager level.
  • Develop policies to ensure that data is identified consistently throughout the organization.
  • Establish and maintain a sound working knowledge of the hospital’s information systems.
  • Direct and monitor supervisors and staff.
  • Provides analysis and support for external auditors as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
