Job Summary

Supervision of Construction Mechanics involved in the construction and renovation of facilities throughout the Lexington Medical Center Health organization. Position is responsible for coordinating the logistics and maintaining the quality of the work being done throughout the organization. This will include scheduling and assignment of ongoing tasks and duties to properly manage multiple projects simultaneously, including self- performed and subcontracted work. Provides technical instruction to staff, and ensures that all projects meet county, DPH, and other applicable codes. Supervisors will conduct performance reviews for staff and handle day-to-day supervisory needs. This position will require contact with a varying number of customers and staff members of all levels, requiring a devotion to service excellence, and is involved in pricing and making recommendations for job purchasing and procurement.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 4 Years of experience in a recognized craft with working knowledge of codes and standards
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: None.
Required Training: Experience in multiple construction disciplines;

Able to produce estimates and manage budgets and job cost at a high volume.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the evaluation, planning and execution of construction projects. This includes responsibility for, but not limited to scheduling of work to maximum extent possible, pre- ordering of material, staging of material and execution requirements.
  • In cooperation with the Construction Project Manager, shares responsibilities for in-house projects as well as contracted projects. This would include but not limited to periodic budget reviews, supervision and scheduling of work, review of completed work, quality and communication.
  • Responsible for the quality of all work performed on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring that work is performed in a professional, timely and economical manner on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for promoting safety within the hospital as well as the engineering department.
  • Position requires continuous availability for coordination in engineering emergencies.
  • Responsible for ensuring all construction work whether contracted or in house meet Infection Control Measures and Interim Life Safety Measures.
  • Responsible for reviewing drawings, specifications and submittals to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all DPH, IBC, IFC, NFPA and DNV codes on all designs and projects.

  • Responsible for ensuring high ethical standards are practiced and maintained in all activities.
  • Responsible for making department or administrative management aware of any illegal or unethical activities.
  • Prepare and submit estimates for projects as required.
  • Gives technical training to all co-workers.
  • Performs duties of Construction Project Manager in their absence.
  • Maintains an optimistic, professional, career-oriented demeanor as a leader at Lexington Medical Center. Is a positive role model and supports all decisions made by the managers within the Construction Services department. Exemplifies excellent customer relations toward patients, visitors, contractors, vendors, physicians, co-workers and management.
  • Responsible for the ordering and scheduling of supplies and materials for the assigned projects.
  • Ensures all applicable code requirements are met on assigned projects.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
