Job Summary

Our Biomedical Services team is looking for a Biomedical Equipment Technician Intern for its West Columbia, SC location.

The Biomedical Equipment Technician Intern will observe departmental processes based on designated department within Lexington Medical Center. Intern will support departmental needs by providing administrative and operational support as necessary. 

The main missions of the role may include:

  • Providing good problem-solving techniques to medical equipment service and operations teams

  • Helping develop tools and processes ensuring product and process conformance to LMC quality, cost, and delivery targets

  • Supporting the Biomedical Services team with medical device testing, integration, troubleshooting, repairs and planning

  • Medical Device assembly and tear down to support LMC patient care objectives

  • Administrative and logistical support to LMC Biomedical Services team members

  • Implementation/maintenance of medical device quality control systems

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED;

Currently pursuing bachelor's degree and majoring in a field relevant to internship or field approved by hiring manager.

Required Certifications/Licensure: None
Required Training: Must be motivated, organized, and possess good communication skills. 

Essential Functions

  • Duties and Responsibilities will vary based on designated department. 
  • Performs operational and administrative functions within the department, which may include:      
    • Answering phone inquiries
    • Assisting with mail deliveries
    • Performing clerical duties such as taking memos, maintaining files, organizing documents, etc.
    • Assisting in the preparation of information for department needs.
    • Taking notes and memos during meetings. May create draft documents or reports
    • Helping with database management. May input information.
    • Assisting with planning and events. May attend company functions and networking events with team members.
    • Responding to Emails

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Role may be located in single location or may shadow multiple office positions and train in a variety of tasks. Travel may vary based on location of internship training.
  • Regularly observes information which is restricted to specific persons; discretion and integrity are recognized requirements of the experience.
  • Observes assigned activities in compliance with hospital and professional standards.
  • Abide by Lexington Medical Center mission and service standards. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
