LexPlan is a staffing schedule designated for patient care staff that work weekends only. Eligible for Full-time benefits.  Receive pay for 36 hours and only work 24 hours.

Job Summary

Coordinates and performs all functions of a Respiratory Therapist. Manages operational functions of assigned shift and provides supervisory and administrative leadership to department staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associate's degree (Graduate of AMA accredited program in Respiratory Care)
Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Years of experience in Respiratory Care where strong leadership and supervisory abilities have been demonstrated
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care;

Licensed by the Board of Medical Examiners for the State of South Carolina (annual renewal required);

Must have ACLS certification within 6 months of hire;

NRP Certification.
Required Training: None.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates competence to provide developmentally appropriate care/treatment for the following patient population:            
    • Infant (Birth to 1 year)           
    • Child (1 year through 12 years)          
    • Adolescent (13 years through 17 years)        
    • Adult (18 years to 65 years)          
    • Geriatric (over 65 years)
  • Evaluates, coordinates and delegates patient care to staff in accordance with qualifications and expertise of personnel.
  • Assures all therapy ordered is performed in accordance with departmental policy and procedure. Demonstrates expertise in patient assessment, rendering therapy in all aspects of respiratory care. Performs direct patient care.  Serves as member of Rapid Response Team.
  • Insures that department work area is maintained, supplies and equipment carts are stocked.
  • Communicates with oncoming shift supervisor/manager or charge therapist regarding pertinent patient care, staffing and departmental information.
  • Manages human resources for assigned shift to assure safe and efficient operations.
    • Assists with orienting all new employees.        
    • Evaluates staff competencies to insure safe and effective delivery of patient care. 
    • Provides feedback to employees through observation of performance and interactions.             
    • Provides counseling and progressive discipline when performance problems are identified.             
    • Recommends and initiates personnel action for hiring, transfer, leave of absence, etc. 
    • Encourages staff involvement and participation in the implementation of system improvements.            
    • Clarifies job performance expectations.        
    • Supports personnel in professional growth and development.     
    • Completes annual performance appraisals and schedules sessions to review with employees, sets goals and determines action plans for improvement.    
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Schedules personnel and staffs on a shift-to-shift basis based on acuity.
  • Collaborates and communicates with other health care professionals in problem resolution, interpretation and clarification of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists in reviewing, evaluating, and revising departmental  policies and procedures.
  • Attends specially called administrative meetings for fire or disaster on assigned shift.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement by serving as member of department CQI Council and monitoring staff  performance relative to identified opportunities for improvement to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provides input into the selection and utilization of equipment and supplies for departmental and organizational use.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
